The Thirteenth Hour Blog

News and Nightmares

Have you ever felt it? That unsettling feeling when you are walking alone at night on a deserted road, and you can feel eyes following you, from everywhere and nowhere all at once? The fingers of fear trail up your spine and you feel a shiver that has nothing to do with the cold. Your breath catches as your heart beats faster, and your ambling walk turns into a desperate run. The menacing sound of pounding footsteps behind you has terror squeezing your heart, and you whip your head around, only to find that there is no one there. Is it your imagination? Or something far more sinister?

Follow along on my blog if you like the shiver of dread you feel knowing that something is in the shadows watching you, the rush of exhilaration when the tension in a horror movie becomes too much as you wait for the jump scare, and stories that crawl under your skin and stay long after the lights go out.

Welcome to The Thirteenth Hour Blog. Let the nightmares begin!

Excerpt from my short story “Paralysis”

When I glanced at my screen, my pink travel mug slipped out of my hand, crashing to the floor. I don’t feel the warm liquid splash on my bare leg or soak my skirt. I am unable to look away from the shadow in my computer screen that is standing behind me. A woman with long hair, head tilted, wearing a tattered dress. She doesn’t move, just stares at me with one eye showing through the tangled curtain that hides her face. I have never seen her when I’ve been awake. The knowledge that dreams can haunt you in the real world is utterly terrifying.

You can read this short story and more in my new collection “In the Bone” – coming soon!

My apologies for the lack of updates. It has been a busy few weeks! In The Bone e-book has been released exclusively on Indie Reads! I will be updating my store with the link for purchase.

The paperback for In The Bone releases today on Amazon and Indie Reads! Grab your copy and let the nightmares begin.

In The Bone – Fear doesn’t always scream. Sometimes it whispers – through bloodlines, through memory, through the quiet spaces we dare not name.

In this collection of five unsettling tales, Tracey explores the fragile boundary between mind and monster. Each story peels back the skin of reality to expose what festers beneath: grief that mutates, love that haunts, and legacies that refuse to die.

In the Bone is a study in dread – intimate, atmospheric, and unflinchingly human. These are not just horrors to be escaped. They are truths to be reckoned with.
